About Dr. Luchs

Dr. Luchs graduated from the University of Pennsylvania and received his M.D. in 1991 from the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York. He then completed an Internship at Mount Sinai Medical Center, and an Ophthalmology residency at Long Island Jewish Medical Center. He was selected for additional fellowship training in Cornea/External Disease and Refractive surgery at the prestigious Wills Eye Hospital in Philadelphia. During this fellowship, he gained intensive experience in the diagnosis and treatment of corneal diseases, refractive surgery, and corneal transplantation. Following his training, Dr. Luchs joined South Shore Eye Care in 1996.

Dr. Luchs continues to be a member of the Cornea Service at Long Island Jewish Medical Center, and is actively involved with teaching the Ophthalmology residents and other doctors in training. He is an Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine, and has numerous publications on cornea, external diseases, and refractive surgery to his credit. He has recently co-authored a textbook of Anterior Segment Diseases and Refractive surgery, which is actively used by doctors in training. He has lectured, both nationally and internationally on topics relating to corneal diseases or refractive surgery.

Dr. Luchs is Board Certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology, and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, The American College of Surgeons, and the Nassau Academy of Medicine. He is also a member of many other professional societies including the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons, New York State Ophthalmologic Society, Long Island Ophthalmologic Society, and Medical Society of the state of New York.
